KARMA’S GONNA GETCHA
One way to get people to buy things is to threaten them. Threatening may seem like too strong of a word for some, but whatever one calls it, it does work. Everything from LIMITED TIME ONLY to linking the product with it being absolutely necessary for our sole survival. And it works primarily because people are so busy that they will put off calling if there is not a limited window of time. People easily get distracted and return to their computer with other offers that can not be passed up. Sound familiar?
MURKY WATERS
Recently a person marketing a product used some tactics that I found unethical. Why? Because they were based on fear, not truth. Now, some of it may be true, but the context was full of innuendos that reeked of environmental armageddon. Such things as FDA confiscation leading to product unavailability at the tip of the [quickly melting] iceberg. There was a sense of confidentiality concerning the Webinar that was ludicrous. If you want something to be confidential, would you use that word CONFIDENTIAL in the subject title? Please, have some respect for the intelligence of your audience. On the other hand, fear can really bypass all rationality and advertisers know this. This product that was presented was promoted and made available by the current largest raw food webstore
I realize that I may have unrealistic expectations concerning the advertising ethics of health related spokes persons, and the webstores hosting them. I own that.
Fear and denial. There are healthier ways to deal with the times we are living in. Let’s explore other possibilities and not make decisions from either one of these states of mind.
As a postscript, the product I was writing about is Adya Clarity- Black Mica. A really good product that got mishandled by distributors in the raw food community. Greed and “incestuous” business partnerships can really damage the reputation of a good product. What is really crazy is that two years later these people have still not really learned a damn thing. 7/2013.
Check out Adya Clarity and some valuable information about how it works, and the vindication and endorsement received from Dr. Brian Clement of the Hippocrates Institute [click here].
