This post is specifically for all the people who have tried to eat a complete to mostly RAW FOOD DIET and have not been able to stay the course.

Postscript 10/2013: Since writing this post in 2011 I discovered The Unique Healing Program Donna Pessin. I highly recommend researching it. A great website, two books, 70+ videos. Check it out and see what you think. I did over a period of three months. I am on the program and it is truly changing my gut and life. [link here].

Over the years I have heard people, who claim to be 100% raw food eaters, often say that the raw diet is not for everyone. That it is a problem to be ” too clean”. Still the words that  follow these statements often place eating 100% raw on a pedestal. Something to aspire to. The feeling I get is that those who eat 100% raw are more disciplined. Some elude to themselves as being more spiritually evolved.

There are two people, that I know of, who I can say may be successful at this way of eating- living and that is Dr. Fed Bisci [link here] and Matt Monarch [link here]. However, in recent times several raw food proponents have announced their decision to reintroduce minimal amounts of steamed-cooked foods, and raw animal products into their diets. Some of these people were referred to [by Mr. Monarch, for one] as having “fallen off the wagon”. I don’t think that acknowledging your personal needs equates with failure. ” Falling off the wagon” is a term has traditionally been used in the context of drug, alcohol and other addictive behaviors. Hmm, addictive behavior. Maybe they are connected.

I am a admirer of people that have a unique vision and create a business from that vision;  David Wolfe [link here] and Matt Monarch are two of those people. However, many visions/beliefs are colored with fear, which is a/the primary HUMAN DILEMMA.  Could it be that fear, in this case concerning food, is born from primitive, unconscious beliefs held in our DNA?  Food is the easiest way to attain pleasure. When overindulged in food, like any substance, will result in pain.

From a scientific perspective our food is highly contaminated [link here]. I feel that it is easier and MUCH more profitable to make food the culprit for many of our woes. Consider the idea that the culprit may be  deeply held emotional patterns that rest within the deepest nooks and crannies of our cells. Food can be, and is often, used as a scapegope.

Cleansing, juicing, superfoods, colonics, herbs, massage therapy, etc. are part of  the way I have chosen to heal. Cleaning up the body, for many, could help the mind clear enough to see what and where the underlying problems live. The “clean up the toxins” strategy can be no different than the traditional medical route. This is especially true  if gone about from the same mind set: What can I eat/ drink [take] to make this [conditon, etc] go away?  A more conscious version of this would be to ask,” What can I stop eating/drinking that will heal this problem?”  Also, and maybe of more importance is, “What can I stop thinking and saying that will improve this condition? For many both questions are vitally important.

Pummeling oneself for not being able to eat only raw foods is connected to  the way we do everything else. Most people feel they are not good enough and that goes for many of the people that are seen as gurus in the RAW FOOD MOVEMENT. Whether they are self proclaimed or made so by an audience of people seeking better health. Some are  buying their products. This never good enough feeling insures a constant fan base-audience. This is how products of any kind are sold.

By stressing the importance of how we do things as being as important as what we do is really important. Please note that I am  not condoning the eating of  farm factory animal products, refined foods, or commercially grown GMO  produce. Also, I am not crucifying people like Matt Monarch for what he says.  However, It is is important to look at the fearfulness that prevails today and how fear colors the choices we are making. All this can be changed to making choices from a self reflective place.  Reaching this can come from meditation, EFT, prayer, chanting, just clearing the brain with writing, or exercise. Whatever works for you.

At the age of ten I distinctly remember questioning the premise that illness just happens to us. The idea that every action has a reaction became a clear reason to doubt that I could not personally impact my own health. In my very early twenties I was introduced to the Macrobiotic Philosophy of Life and assisted a Macrobiotic Counselor in NYC over a period of ten years or more. My life took many twists and turns and I evolved from a trained dancer and performer to a Shiatsu Therapist, Yoga Teacher, Colon Therapist and student of different Spiritually oriented Mind Body Therapies at the Esalen Institute and other healing centers. My associations are as follows: Member of the AOBTA for over 20 Years Member of the NCCAOM for approximately 12 years Member of the Yoga Teachers Alliance 500 hours for approximately 12 years Colon Therapist [ Wood's Institute ] Since 1998 Along with studying REIKI [ 2nd degree ] I was part of a School based on the work of Railey Macey, Dr. Robert Jaffe and Hands of Light. Railey Macey was my teacher. Thank you for your interest in my blog. notyourrawmoma "Wherever you are be the soul of that place". Rumi
