COMPASSION FOR OTHERS: HOW TO CREATE CHANGE NOW

Food addicts fall off the wagon and gain a few pounds. It is only where there is extreme obesity that people express harsh disdain. Drug addicts fall off the wagon and the gavel of public opinion slams down hard. The destructive consequences from the drug addicts actions are often obviously far reaching. The extreme ends of both these issues leave people in a hard place to function. Drug and alcohol addiction very often lead to more violent situations, crime and prison.

Using food as a drug is the norm. Equating food addiction with drug addiction enrages many.Obesity is at an all time high. I truly feel addiction is addiction and separating the different kinds is, at the core, not helpful to finding a solution. It is all about temporary pain diminishment. Neither food, drug or alcohol addiction works long term. No addiction leads to a healthy, fully alive life.

I have great compassion for people with drug and food addictions. Drug addicts are not known for their healthy diets. Poor diet feeds their drug cravings, and pales in comparison with the obvious destruction drug addiction creates. In this year of volatile change [2012], where coming together is being forced upon people, aware of it or not, compassion is  the answer. Why? Compassion does not create fear, it opens our minds  and hearts to understanding the pain and suffering of others. It takes some self reflection to realize that separation is a fear response. To engage in understanding and helpful actions towards ourselves and others is true grass roots change.

CREATING CHANGE NOW

Extending compassion to others  through meditation or prayer is a powerful start. Both practices contribute to being more conscious, feeling less isolated and impotent to create change. All can be done from our homes [wherever we are] and effect the lives of others. I believe this and I hope others will consider the power of their own thoughts, words and actions in changing the world around us.

I was introduced to Spiritual Living LLC  through taking part in an online course. I was moved, motivated and comforted by their approach to many of the fears concerning 2012. There was a sense of empowerment and not the foreboding, world is coming to an end prophesies circulating around the internet, etcetera.

The series that I subscribed to was entitled Prophecy, Purpose and Personal Transformation / Opening to the Divine  click here. This series featured Steve Thomson, Kari Samuels and  Demitra Vassiliadas. Their backgrounds stem from astrology, numerology, tarot and more. Mr. Thomson is a spiritual psychic, as well. All three were very informative, inspiring and instructive. The cost was a truly affordable $20.12 for all four installments and were approximately 90 minutes each in length.

As a postscript: 2012 has passed. The material in these recording was extremely accurate and insightful.

At the age of ten I distinctly remember questioning the premise that illness just happens to us. The idea that every action has a reaction became a clear reason to doubt that I could not personally impact my own health. In my very early twenties I was introduced to the Macrobiotic Philosophy of Life and assisted a Macrobiotic Counselor in NYC over a period of ten years or more. My life took many twists and turns and I evolved from a trained dancer and performer to a Shiatsu Therapist, Yoga Teacher, Colon Therapist and student of different Spiritually oriented Mind Body Therapies at the Esalen Institute and other healing centers. My associations are as follows: Member of the AOBTA for over 20 Years Member of the NCCAOM for approximately 12 years Member of the Yoga Teachers Alliance 500 hours for approximately 12 years Colon Therapist [ Wood's Institute ] Since 1998 Along with studying REIKI [ 2nd degree ] I was part of a School based on the work of Railey Macey, Dr. Robert Jaffe and Hands of Light. Railey Macey was my teacher. Thank you for your interest in my blog. notyourrawmoma "Wherever you are be the soul of that place". Rumi
