SELF APPROVAL IS HEALING

HEALING MY INJURY AND SELF APPROVAL

The most important step in healing my hip injury has been believing that I can. With that is coupled the importance of my no longer needing others to validate my belief. Also, to relinquish the approval from others.  Opinions that have irked me are the ones that tweak my own doubts that healing is possible. If their ideas are of no threat to me they simply go over my head and do not leave a long standing impression. This is an ongoing process.

I have noticed that as people age, many become more doubtful about their belief in their ability to heal. They question their ability or desire to live a long and healthy life. This exists in people of all ages and backgrounds. I am still surprised to hear it from community of people that call themselves  holistic. It is saddening to hear a dialogue that goes along the lines of: Well, this is what happens when you get old. These people are often in the 50 to 60 year range. These remarks tell me that old beliefs run very deep. These words sound like something that would come out of the mouths of those eating the Standard American Diet and using Allopathic Medicine as their only health strategy.

Healing is our birthright. This is not a commonly shared belief, but I think it is one to seriously reflect upon. Because it is not a widely shared belief my health choices will not often find approval. Needing the approval of others is not empowering. I am facing my  judgement of those whose health strategies I do not share. If I am confident with my decisions I then have no need to make others wrong. A long held pattern of thinking. Lasting change seems to comes one moment at a time.

In the meantime, I will watch Stewart and Colbert and let them remind me of the importance of laughter and silliness.

Postscript 11/2013: The Unique Healing Program Donna Pessin is something worth researching. I part of this program and recommend it highly. I have written about it on these pages.

At the age of ten I distinctly remember questioning the premise that illness just happens to us. The idea that every action has a reaction became a clear reason to doubt that I could not personally impact my own health. In my very early twenties I was introduced to the Macrobiotic Philosophy of Life and assisted a Macrobiotic Counselor in NYC over a period of ten years or more. My life took many twists and turns and I evolved from a trained dancer and performer to a Shiatsu Therapist, Yoga Teacher, Colon Therapist and student of different Spiritually oriented Mind Body Therapies at the Esalen Institute and other healing centers. My associations are as follows: Member of the AOBTA for over 20 Years Member of the NCCAOM for approximately 12 years Member of the Yoga Teachers Alliance 500 hours for approximately 12 years Colon Therapist [ Wood's Institute ] Since 1998 Along with studying REIKI [ 2nd degree ] I was part of a School based on the work of Railey Macey, Dr. Robert Jaffe and Hands of Light. Railey Macey was my teacher. Thank you for your interest in my blog. notyourrawmoma "Wherever you are be the soul of that place". Rumi
