This is the most direct way I could come up with to verbally hit the nail on the head.  In my experience when people are not well they either feel like they are fat and bloated or fragile and bloated. They look different, but are in some ways very similar. Blowing up – bloating, gaining weight does not connect to sickness in the collective mind of society, but getting thinner when not feeling well gets people really fearful that something is very wrong. Cancer and other words synonymous with death come to mind. Wow, this is getting depressing. I don’t mean it to be. I am just being real in terms of my experience with myself and others who are in the process of  healing. Also, this is my experience with those who have been chronically ill and recovering from life threatening illnesses. So, what am I trying to say here? Well, in terms of this Unique Healing Program you are most likely in one of these camps: Feeling fat and bloated or thin and frail. And yes, you can be frail and bloated. Most people today are either emotionally numbed out or agitated. Pharmaceutical, recreational drug and alcohol sales verify that those words describe a large part of the developed world population. If you are on The UHP or other healing program, searching for an solution to health problems, or considering some different kind of action to feel better, that is truly awesome.

When accumulated toxins in our bodies are not being controlled  by a high protein, often cancer causing diet, we eventually begin to develop symptoms. This can be dealt with in two ways: Either you are on a path to heal without drugs or surgery, or you go to a doctor to get meds to “make symptoms go away” until you need stronger drugs or surgery. Many things can trigger symptoms. An excess consumption of anything that puts stress on our already overwhelmed immune systems causes symptoms. Emotional stress, travel, travel by plane, recreational drugs, alcohol, eating foods that put those already stressed organs in overdrive. Junk food, spicy food, juice fasting, juice feasting, a fruitarian diet. Basically any shock to our system. Depending on our personal circumstances it may not take much to get pushed into being symptomatic. Symptomatic meaning, rashes, mood swings, weight fluctuations, insomnia, dental pain, acne, etcetera. Cleansing needs something to absorb the out pouring of wastes. Sodium Bentonite Clay, in the right amounts, does this. However, it does it at its own pace.

The Unique Healing Program is not a fast process. Consider your time on the planet [age], all the meals you may have eaten, meds you have taken, pollutants are environmental toxins we are all so often unknowingly subjected to, family health history, the person[s] you are living with, sexual partners, hospital visits, pets, etcetera. There is no calculator or personal memory to add this and up and make real sense of it all. If you are doing The Unique Healing Program with children it will force you to look at family health history of you entire lines. Having an obviously ill child can be an amazing life saving gift for you and your family. No, I am not just looking for rainbows in the dark. My experience is this is all true.

How do toxins make weight rise? My own experience before and since The UHP [plus my interpretation of what I believe Donna Pessin says] is that this happens as the body holds onto water and fat to protect our cells from being ravaged by acidity, aka un-eliminated and built- up waste products. Holding onto water and fats is a way of diluting these poisons. Acidity is what happens when the organs of excretion can not do their job and waste matter of all kinds builds and builds in ALL  the cells of our body. One example of this going out of control is, what is commonly know as Gout. Gout is what is often seen in people with Diabetes or are Pre-Diabetes. All these fancy words like Gout and Diabetes are other ways of saying that the organs of our body have become hard and encrusted or limp and weak. Not an attractive mental picture. Gout, which is commonly seen in the ankles, says volume about poor circulation and how poisons accumulate in the lower legs. It is called GRAVITY.

Weight gain and  fluctuations are a deeper comment on Kidney and bladder function. The kidneys carry a much deeper relevance in Chinese – Traditional Asian Medicine. The kidneys are said to hold our life force, called Jing. I think it  is worth pointing out how the ability to walk and bladder function traditionally decline in people who have failing health as they get older. This can happen at any age when deep sickness is present. AIDS, Cancer and other neurologically based illnesses are the most potent examples of this in people of all ages who have full blown chronic illness.

Most people think of weight problems as the inability to loose weight, and this is understandable. Not being able to gain weight is just as problematic. The feelings of not being in control in both these situations is deeply frustrating. Eating food and not gaining weight often pairs up down the line [aging] with lack of appetite and not being able to consume enough whole foods to gain weight. More serious health problems ensue that often look like this: a big bloated gut and spindly limbs. It is a depressing visual. The inability to absorb nutrients and gain weight, as years go by, can only be understood by experiencing it yourself, with loved ones or clinically with clients- patients. In my late teens and twenties I always had an extra 5 to 15 pounds that I would be exercising or watching what I ate to control. I completely did not understand the eat anything and not gain weight “problem”. I did not experience eating things one likes judiciously and maintaining a healthy weight. Why? My digestion sucked. I did not understand the problem of eating to gain weight and having no results. Both are all unhealthy gut symptoms. That is it, period and exclamation point. Without a healthy gut both ends of the weight gain and inability to gain spectrum, creates a life of constant food preoccupation that will be a constant unwanted companion. It is not fun and will only lead to more very serious health problems. I am stepping off the soapbox here.

Healing the gut is the only way to go. The Unique Healing Program Donna Pessin. To get there you will experience some pretty strong highs and lows both physically and emotionally. Just know that you are not alone and that all this can and will lead to healing an all too common problem in our society. TASS.

Some ideas about what might help with “The Bloat” in the next post. Hope to make is shorter than this one.

At the age of ten I distinctly remember questioning the premise that illness just happens to us. The idea that every action has a reaction became a clear reason to doubt that I could not personally impact my own health. In my very early twenties I was introduced to the Macrobiotic Philosophy of Life and assisted a Macrobiotic Counselor in NYC over a period of ten years or more. My life took many twists and turns and I evolved from a trained dancer and performer to a Shiatsu Therapist, Yoga Teacher, Colon Therapist and student of different Spiritually oriented Mind Body Therapies at the Esalen Institute and other healing centers. My associations are as follows: Member of the AOBTA for over 20 Years Member of the NCCAOM for approximately 12 years Member of the Yoga Teachers Alliance 500 hours for approximately 12 years Colon Therapist [ Wood's Institute ] Since 1998 Along with studying REIKI [ 2nd degree ] I was part of a School based on the work of Railey Macey, Dr. Robert Jaffe and Hands of Light. Railey Macey was my teacher. Thank you for your interest in my blog. notyourrawmoma "Wherever you are be the soul of that place". Rumi
